Our program offers various types of clerkship rotations for third and fourth year medical students. Students from the University of Cincinnati and Meharry Medical College rotate regularly with our inpatient rounding teams as well as in the outpatient resident clinic. We also frequently have students from other Cincinnati and Ohio area medical schools as well as a few international medical students. Foreign medical graduates can request to do observerships. These are all subject to approval by program leadership.
Some of the available rotations include, but are not limited to:
Third year medical students are responsible for thoroughly evaluating patients, obtaining comprehensive histories and physical exams, and formulating an appropriate assessment. Fourth year students are challenged with additional critical thinking regarding patient plans and are expected to carry higher patient volumes. Depending on the rotation, students may also be involved in assisting ACLS efforts. All students partake in note writing, educational presentations, and program didactics. Direct supervision and feedback is provided by the senior residents and attendings.
