Santrina’s Hope-Filled Fight Against Breast Cancer

Watch Santrina share her story

“I am a business owner, I’m a mom, I’m a wife... I’m a lot of things,” Santrina Fletcher-Zoller introduced herself. “And now I am a future breast cancer survivor.”

Diagnosed November 2023, Santrina’s cancer was believed to be only Stage II. It was not until further testing that she found out that it had metastasized to her bone, updating her diagnosis.

“Although the news was devastating,” she said. “The more I knew about the treatments I was going to receive and the help I was going to get from TriHealth, the better I felt about things.”

Santrina mentioned feeling lucky that she was diagnosed today as opposed to in years past, calling attention to the notable leaps made in oncological care in even the past decade.

“Medicine has evolved enormously in the past ten years, especially with my type of cancer,” she said. “So, there is HOPE now."

Santrina’s treatment has been responding well so far, as she expressed relief in having avoided traditional chemotherapy.

“Once I started knowing I was on medication and doing things for myself,” she expressed. “I’m like ‘I can totally do this.’”

As she continues her treatment, Santrina has a message for others finding themselves in medical situations: “Don’t panic, get the testing done, seek medical advice – see which direction you need to go in and then do some healing on your own.”

She went on, “It’s probably the worst news one can ever get – but having that worst news, I know that I can overcome it and I’m going in the right direction.”
