Dr. Omar Jawaid started his career after earning a master’s degree in immunology by working six years in pharmaceutical quality assurance. He chose to go on to medical school to have more direct impact on people’s lives, helping them live better. He values the opportunity to see an ill patient return after treatment feeling great.
Dr. Jawaid helps people with heart failure live longer, healthier lives with medications and mechanical support like left ventricular assist devices (LVAD). He also diagnoses and treats sarcoidosis and amyloidosis, rare blood and heart conditions. He likes to create a warm and open environment where patients may discuss their symptoms freely. Dr. Jawaid encourages everyone to walk 30 minutes a day to live better.
Born and raised in Chicago, Dr. Jawaid and his wife have three children. He enjoys spending time with his family. He also likes to exercise, try new restaurants and visit amusement parks with his kids.
