Alcohol and Drug Treatment

Medication Assisted Treatment

Depending on the situation, TriHealth’s Bethesda Alcohol and Drug Treatment outpatient program can include medication-assisted treatment.

Medications are prescribed to patients who agree to participate in Bethesda’s Intensive Outpatient and Continuing Care programs.

Suboxone

Suboxone has been proven effective in those recovering from addiction to opiates, including prescription medications and heroin. The medication is effective for:

  • Treating withdrawal symptoms
  • Increasing the likelihood of a person remaining in a recovery program
  • Reducing the likelihood of relapses

This treatment has been endorsed by the state of Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and recognized by most major insurance companies.

Additional Medications

Other medications that are used to treat withdrawal and support recovery for alcohol and drug addiction are available in the program as prescribed by Medical Director Raymond Hellmann M.D., ABAM.

Dr. Hellmann is approved as an addiction specialist by the American Board of Addiction Medicine, and has been recognized as one of Cincinnati Magazine’s top physicians for internal medicine.
