From a young age, Dr. Cynthia Okot-Kotber realized she wanted to help people through health care. While in medical school, she discovered a love for obstetrics and gynecology, as well as the long-term relationships formed with women throughout their lives. During residency, she won the Award for Excellence in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery from the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in Queens, NY.
Dr. Okot-Kotber sees adolescents and adults for all obstetric and gynecologic concerns. These include contraception management, pre- and post-natal care, minimally invasive procedures, and in-office gynecologic procedures. She encourages everyone to remain active and to exercise regularly for overall health. By creating a safe and welcoming environment, she assures that her patients will feel heard and cared for.
During medical school, Dr. Okot-Kotber worked in a women’s hospital in Uganda where she completed a maternal/child health elective. She looks forward to doing more mission work there in the future. Faith is also very important to Dr. Okot-Kotber, as she is much involved in her church community. She also enjoys yoga, salsa dancing and traveling/experiencing new cultures.
