Grief Support

TriHealth offers grief support services at no cost to children through Fernside: A Center for Grieving Children, a national leader in grief support. A separate TriHealth-sponsored support group allows parents to grieve together and learn from one another after the loss of a child.

National Leader in Helping Children

Children who have experienced the death of a loved one can get help through Fernside, the second oldest children’s grief center in the United States. Established in 1986, Fernside is a national leader in providing grief support services, outreach and education.

An affiliate of Hospice of Cincinnati, Fernside addresses the unique needs of children and provides the following services free of charge with the help of generous donors:

  • Peer support groups serving over 900 children, teens and adults annually
  • Camp Program, providing summer camp and retreat experiences
  • Community Outreach, including in-school grief groups, education, training and publications

Support for Parents

Parents who have experienced pregnancy loss or neonatal death such as miscarriage, stillborn, ectopic pregnancy and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome can attend a monthly meeting offered by TriHealth. Parents share experiences and explore the natural feelings of anger, sadness and depression that accompany the grieving process.
