Dr. Wajiha Koomal recalls several influences that led her to medical school – she liked science and had several extended family members in medicine. As she continued her studies, her curiosity kept her going. She chose to specialize in internal medicine because she likes seeing people as a whole being, treating all aspects of health and sickness. Dr.
Koomal sees patients age 18 and above for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illness. She focuses on education, providing the information patients need to create a healthy life and to take care of themselves. She asks patients to be honest with her so they can work together to address any concerns. She encourages everyone to take measures to prevent illness and to get help at the first signs of problems. She truly enjoys taking care of her patients and wants them to reach out whenever they need help.
Married with two children, Dr. Koomal has lived in three countries and enjoys discovering new cultures through travel. She likes to cook and spend time with her family. She also would like to continue doing medical mission work in Madagascar and Pakistan in the future.
