Thomas Shockley, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, Associate Chief Medical Officer for the Bethesda North region, and Chief Health Equity Officer for TriHealth.
Dr. Shockley received his fellowship training at the Atlanta Sports Medicine Center. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and a general surgery internship at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN.
As Associate Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Shockley focuses on ensuring TriHealth provides safe, high-quality and reliable health care, all of which are cornerstones in the delivery of equitable care and align with TriHealth’s population health initiatives which serve to meet our promise of better care, better health, better value and a better experience for our team members.
As Chief Health Equity Officer, Dr. Shockley guides the development of TriHealth's new Center for Health Equity to proactively create:
• An equitable and inclusive organization for team members
• Equitable access, experience & quality for patients
• Equitable health status for the community
Dr. Shockley is highly involved with several local, state, and national medical associations, including the Cincinnati Academy of Medicine, which is instrumental in promoting the best healthcare practices for residents of the region. He is featured frequently on local TV educational health programs. For years he was team physician for Finneytown High School until transitioning to his administrative position.
In his free time, Dr. Shockley enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, traveling, golfing, reading, and exercising.
