Michael R. Paczas, M.D. is an orthopedic surgeon and is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Paczas received his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering at the University of Michigan before attending the University of Michigan Medical School for his medical degree. After, he served an internship and his residency at University Hospitals of Cleveland. In addition, he completed a fellowship with the Hand Surgery Center. With that training, his background and years of patient experience, he now focuses on the complex orthopedic conditions, injuries and treatments of the elbow, wrist and hand.
He values working with patients, respecting them and showing compassion. The goal is to achieve maximum mobility and reduce or eliminate pain. First and foremost, he wants to achieve that goal through non-surgical treatments, but if surgery is required, then he is sure to engage the patient and his or her loved ones in discussing the options about determining next steps.
Preventing injury is always preferred and Dr. Paczas encourages his patients to live an active lifestyle. Further, he educates them about proactive ways to remain safe throughout their many physical activities. He treats both adult and adolescent patients with a wide variety of conditions including trauma, arthritis, sports injuries and carpal tunnel syndrome.
Dr. Paczas is highly regarded in his field and has shared his expertise specifically about hand surgery by writing journal articles, book chapters and making presentations to colleagues at national medical conferences.
