Dr. Kathleen Lao has always found joy in working with children of all ages. She began her medical journey volunteering as a teen for Camp Joyful Hearts, a Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center summer camp for children with congenital heart disease. Seeing the physicians interact with the campers inspired her to become a pediatrician, ensuring the well-being and fostering the potential of children.
Dr. Lao sees patients from newborn through college age for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illness. With a warm and empathetic approach, she takes time to listen and address the concerns of her patients and their families. She believes in a holistic, well rounded approach, talking about everything that may impact a child’s health. Dr. Lao encourages everyone to increase outdoor activities and to explore opportunities to meet other people and find new interests.
A Chicago native, Dr. Lao moved to Cincinnati with her fiancé for his cardiology fellowship. She’s excited to become a part of the community where her medical journey started. Dr. Lao got involved with Make-A-Wish in Chicago and plans to continue with the organization here. She enjoys biking, traveling, learning about new cultures, trying new cuisines and tending to her indoor plants.
