A Harvard medical school mentor introduced Dr. Beary
to the importance of immunology in understanding and
treating chronic inflammatory diseases, leading him to
choose rheumatology as his specialty.
With more than 40 years of experience in clinical
rheumatology, education and research, Dr. Beary sees
adults for joint diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis,
gout, psoriatic arthritis, inflammatory spondylitis and
osteoarthritis of the knee and hip. He has worked extensively
on many clinical trials, testing new medicines and helping
to standardize testing procedures internationally. His most
recent research project involves a large multicenter study
that will lead to new clinical guidelines for gout treatment.
Dr. Beary believes in listening to his patients to understand
their concerns and needs. He encourages everyone to
help themselves by practicing preventive medicine, and
incorporating healthy habits into their everyday life.
A retired Navy reservist, Dr. Beary also served as flight
surgeon and chief of flight medicine at Andrews Air
Force Base. He and his wife have four children and eight
grandchildren. He supports the American Red Cross and
the Disabled American Veterans. Dr. Beary is also an aviation
history buff and a former pilot.

Dr. Beary listened to my concern and ordered a STAT Doppler to R/O DVT! Results were positive for a DVT and Dr. Beary sent me to ER!

Overall I had a very positive & informative experience at my appointment. I felt more informed on on my arthritis, the plan for getting more healthy, & what I needed to do to get there. Dr. Beary is a wonderful doctor that takes the time to make sure that you understand what the diagnosis is, the plan for treatment, and what you need to do to get on, & stay on track.

This was my last visit with Dr. Beary. We both agreed that I no longer needed to be under his care. He did take very good care of me for the last three years.
