About Me

Conditions I specialize in
  • Gastroenterology

Dr. Howard Zhang started his career as a pharmaceutical research chemist in Cincinnati. While drug discovery can make a huge contribution to society, he recognized that, as a doctor, he could truly make a difference in individual lives. He found a passion for gastroenterology and the wide range of conditions and challenges encountered during his early medical training.

After completing an internal medical residency and a gastroenterology fellowship, he returned to Cleveland to join Kaiser Permanente. With more than 15 years of experience, Dr. Zhang has served as chief of gastroenterology at healthcare systems in northeast Ohio and as clinical associate professor at Northeast Ohio Medical University. He has authored a number of articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and holds patents for innovations in advanced endoscopy. At TriHealth, he sees adults for all aspects of gastrointestinal conditions. He enjoys getting to know his patients well and helping them achieve the best results possible. He believes in careful listening and working with his patients to reach a mutual decision on the best treatment plan.

Dr. Zhang and his wife have one son, a pianist and violinist who is attending Miami University. In his spare time, Dr. Zhang enjoys music, cooking and travel.
