Though Dr. Murphy didn't really enjoy school as a child, she discovered a love of learning in college. Because she liked to figure out how things worked, she found herself drawn first to biochemistry and ultimately to medicine.
An experienced hospitalist, Dr. Murphy has chosen to move into outpatient care so she may develop long-term relationships with her patients, learning about them over time so that she may help them throughout their lives.
To help her patients feel comfortable discussing their concerns, Dr. Murphy creates an accepting and welcoming environment. She believes in working with her patients as a team to help them live better. She encourages everyone to exercise more by incorporating more movement into everyday life.
Married with three grade-school children, Dr. Murphy has coached her kids' soccer and basketball teams. She also teaches Sunday school. An avid reader, she is passionate about cooking and likes to run marathons.
