The 24th Annual Midwest Regional Black Family Reunion Celebration was held on August 18, 2012 at Sawyer Point. This outdoor event continues to grow and is now one of Cincinnati's largest family-focused events drawing over 100,000 patrons. The Midwest Regional Black Family Reunion Celebration was inaugurated in August 1989 in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is held annually the 3rd weekend of August at Sawyer Point and Yeatman's Cove.
In 2012, TriHealth continued a tradition of sponsorship of the Black Family Reunion. The TriHealth booth was across from center stage at Sawyer Point's Yeatman’s Cove, a great location to connect with the community. TriHealth was also the exclusive t-shirt sponsor this year with a large presence on the back of the t-shirt. Over 50 TriHealth team members came out to engage with our community, play games, give out prizes and provide helpful information on TriHealth services.
This was the first year that TriHealth participated in the annual parade through Avondale community. Tracy Ford of SeniorLink spearheaded this project and was a great kick-off to the 2012 Black Family Reunion. TriHealth featured a talented dance team, Elementz, that performed in the parade along to music that blasted from TriHealth vehicles. Several parade volunteers also handed out candy to the crowd on the streets Avondale.
