TriHealth Purchases Butler County Medical Center

Nov. 22, 2011 - Butler County Medical CenterTriHealth has finalized the agreement to purchase the Butler County Medical Center which will be consolidated into Bethesda Hospital, effective March 1, 2012. The center’s 180 current clinical and management team members join the other 10,000 team members at TriHealth, one of the region’s largest employers.

Bethesda Hospital Butler County Medical Center is a 10-bed surgical hospital with eight operating rooms, three endoscopy suites and two procedure rooms. Bethesda North Hospital will assume operation of the center’s surgery services, medical imaging services, sleep medicine center, pathology, laboratory services and physical therapy services. Cardiology and cancer care will be introduced in the next few months through the TriHealth Heart Institute and TriHealth Cancer Institute. In addition, Bethesda North Hospital will open a 15-bed emergency department at the medical center in 2013. The agreement also includes acquisition of the real estate and buildings, in a partnership with a national real estate firm. The center is located on 23 acres at 3125 Hamilton-Mason Road in Hamilton, Ohio.

“The facility will continue to offer Butler County residents the same convenience, comfort and efficiency, plus we are able to add emergency, cardiology and oncology care that expands our ability to serve the community,” said Dr. Greg Owens, Chairman, Butler County Medical Center Board.

Current Butler County Medical Center patients should see no difference in their physician, nurses, staff, protocols and office location. The only internal change patients will notice is their bills will come from Bethesda North Hospital starting in March 2012.
