TriHealth won the 2011 Healthy Ohio - Health Workplace award for demonstrating a commitment to team member health. The awards are presented by the Ohio Department of Health and sponsored by Medical Mutual of Ohio. The Healthy Ohio - Healthy Workplace award recognizes Ohio employers that commit to improving team member health by incorporating comprehensive workplace health promotion and wellness programs. It acknowledges efforts to facilitate and encourage team member health, enhance productivity and ensure a healthy work environment.
TriHealth was one of three large employers in the state to receive the Gold level of the award and one of only two winners from Hamilton county. The other winner was Standard Textile, a client of TriHealth Corporate Health. 97 worksites, large and small, for profit and nonprofit, from across Ohio applied for the award.
"As one of Cincinnati's largest employers, we are committed to the long-term health of our team members," said John Prout, President and Chief Executive Officer of TriHealth. "We have created innovative programs that reward team members for taking an active role in their health and this award recognizes our leadership in creating a healthy workplace for our team members and for our Corporate Health clients."
TriHealth team members participate in the LifeStyles program and have the opportunity to receive their annual preventive screenings, learn about their biometric values, and take part in many health and fitness activities. Points are accumulated throughout the year to save money on future health insurance premiums. Additionally, TriHealth hospitals have on-site fitness centers and team members receive a membership discount at the TriHealth Fitness & Health Pavilion.
"Team Member health and wellness efforts result in major benefits for both the employer and team member," said Healthy Ohio Business Council Chair Laura Ritzler. "Positive returns on investment are realized in team members who improve their health resulting in decreased rates of absenteeism and increased productivity. Employers also realize reductions in healthcare costs and an overall increase in productivity and job satisfaction.
