Collectively, the City of Mason, American Heart Association, and TriHealth Heart Institute save countless lives each year. The three will join forces for a family safety program at Mason Community Center on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 from 9 to 11 a.m.
The goal of the family-friendly event is to equip families with life-saving CPR techniques, like Hands-Only™ CPR, shown to be equally as effective as conventional CPR for sudden cardiac arrest. The event and activities celebrate June as National CPR Awareness month.
The American Heart Association and TriHealth Heart Institute are offering Hands-Only CPR demonstrations and classes using their Family & Friends® CPR Anytime® kit. It can double or even triple a victim’s chance of survival. The Family & Friends CPR Anytime kit allows individuals to train up to 20 people on Hands-Only CPR, and is recommended for families and community groups.
Classes are at 9:30 and 10:45 a.m. in the Mason Community Center Senior Activity Room with demonstrations throughout the program. Those interested in training others in Hands-Only CPR have the opportunity to receive a free Family & Friends CPR Anytime kit, a $25 value.
Kids can tour and see the inner-workings of Mason Fire Department fire trucks and ambulances and meet some of Mason’s life-saving heroes. The Mason FD will also provide information about their new advanced CPR and automatic external defibrillator (AED) trainings for Mason residents and businesses. Classes are free and open to any Mason resident or business.
