Restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic have been especially difficult for residents of long-term care facilities and their families. Many such residents are among the most at-risk, which is stressful enough, but missing out on the physical presence of family and other visitors has added to their challenges.
With residents and staff of these facilities among the first to receive COVID-19 vaccines, restrictions are being eased and many residents are able to see family members again for the first time in over a year. In this segment of TriHealth’s Health Talk Live, Local 12’s Liz Bonis speaks with residents and their families at Boonespring, a TriHealth partner. They share what it means to them to be able to visit in person, and how they’ve managed to stay connected through virtual means over the past year.
Liz also speaks with staff members who discuss the relief they are not only seeing in the residents, but are also feeling themselves with the easing of visitor restrictions. They also share how their experience gained through the pandemic will help them in serving their residents and maintaining their safety.
