The Cincinnati Reds and the rest of Major League Baseball are not the only teams returning to the field after a late start due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Players of all levels and ages have also returned to diamond and playing fields, many after a long layoff from their usual training and preparation. What affect has that delay and lack of preparation had on the frequency of injuries? Andrew Islam MD, an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist with the TriHealth Orthopedic and Sports Institute, joins Local 12’s Liz Bonis in this segment of TriHealth's Health Talk Live to answer that question. He also explains the precautions being taken by sports teams to limit the spread of COVID-19 during workouts and practice and offers advice on how to avoid injuries as athletes get back to sports.
