Health Talk Live: Flu Season and COVID-19
October 14, 2020

With cases of the flu already being reported in our region, questions are arising about how this year’s flu season will be impacted by the outbreak of COVID-19. In this segment of TriHealth’s Health Talk Live, Local 12’s Liz Bonis speaks with Stephen Blatt, MD, Director for Infectious Diseases with TriHealth Physician Partners about why it’s important for people to protect themselves against the spread of the flu and what symptoms people should be looking for at the onset of the flu versus COVID-19. He also discusses the outlook for each and explains why the mortality rate for COVID-19 is higher than for the typical flu.

Dr. Blatt also talks about recent developments in the treatment of COVID-19 including the difference between polyclonal versus monoclonal antibodies and which is more effective, plus the usage of steroid therapy for certain patients with COVID-19.
