Doctor on Call: Can Garlic Stop a Cold?

Doctor on Call: Can Garlic Stop a Cold?
October 30, 2019

There are reportedly multiple health benefits to consuming garlic, among them is the question submitted for this segment of TriHealth’s Doctor On Call by Danny in Hyde Park - Does garlic actually help stop a cold and if so, how do you consume it? Eshwar Ramadas, MD, a family medicine specialist with TriHealth, answers Danny’s question with a resounding “maybe,” explaining the results of the study that backs up the claim but with the caveat that there is still too little data to use as proof. He also provides other potential health benefits of garlic and explains the best way to consume it to maximize its benefits. As for that common cold? Dr. Ramadas gives some additional insight into the best prevention measures and how to treat symptoms if you do catch one.

Doctor on Call is a segment in partnership with WCPO-TV featuring TriHealth physicians answering medical questions submitted by viewers to WCPO.
