TriHealth On Call: Lowering Stroke Risk From AFib With WATCHMAN

An estimated five million Americans are affected by atrial fibrillation, commonly referred to as AFib. People with AFib have a five times greater risk of stroke than those with normal heart rhythms. Traditionally, people with high risk of stroke due to AFib have been treated through the use of blood thinners, but due to a history of bleeding, other conditions or lifestyle, some people need an alternative to blood thinners.

This segment of TriHealth On Call features Guy Kaeser, whose risk of stroke is reduced after receiving the WATCHMAN™ Left Atrial Appendage (LAA) Closure Implant. You will also hear from Marshall Winner, MD, an electrophysiologist with the TriHealth Heart Institute, who shares more information about this revolutionary alternative to blood thinners and how it is improving the lives of his patients.
