Dr. Venkata Muddana is a board-certified and experienced gastroenterologist specializing in treating adult patients with general and complex gastrointestinal disorders. He completed a gastroenterology fellowship with additional training in advanced endoscopy. He finds gastroenterology to be the perfect blend of science and art.

Dr. Muddana has a special interest in pancreaticobiliary disorders, GI oncology, esophageal disorders and patients with gastroparesis. Dr. Muddana believes in less invasive, nonsurgical treatments where possible and he accomplishes this through his expertise in advanced endoscopic procedures, including ERCP, interventional EUS, EMR, luminal stenting and endoscopic suturing. He is one of the few physicians in the country performing third space endoscopic procedures such as ESDs, STER, EFTR, POEM, G-POEM and Z-POEM. He also serves as Director of Endoscopy for Good Samaritan Hospital and Bethesda North Hospital.

Dr. Muddana has co-authored numerous book chapters, reviews and published original research in leading gastroenterology journals. He believes the needs of patients come first, ensuring patient care and experiences are a priority, while providing high quality, comprehensive care.

Dr. Muddana is married and has two beautiful children. In his free time, he enjoy playing sports, traveling and hiking with his family and friends.

I was EXTREMELY nervous prior to this visit. I had never met this doctor before. I had just recently found out my diagnosis and didn't really understand it prior to my visit. Dr. Muddana explained what the diagnosis means, he explained different options for treatment and then he spoke to me about my choice that I made. He made sure I understood the treatment, the risks, and the outcomes. I felt very at ease when I left the office.
