Karen Wernke joined the TriHealth Precision Medicine Institute as a clinical genetic counselor in 2018. She graduated from the Ohio State University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Genetics. In 2018, Karen graduated from Emory University School of Medicine with a Master of Medical Science in Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling.
Karen is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling. She is also licensed by the Ohio State Medical Board to practice as a genetic counselor.
Karen provides genetic counseling to individuals with personal and/or family histories of cancer. She practices out of the Thomas Center (10506A Montgomery Rd) and Arrow Springs (100 Arrow Springs Blvd) locations. Her professional interests include identification of hereditary breast cancers, colorectal cancers, and hematologic malignancies. Her hope is to help empower patients so that they may use their genetic testing information to guide their care in a way that allows them to be more proactive with their health and cancer risks.
Karen is a Cincinnati native and loves going to Bengals and Reds games. In her free time, she can usually be found going for a hike or a run with her Beagle mix, Luna.
