TriHealth announced Bethesda North Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital have earned Perinatal Care Certification from The Joint Commission. The certification program recognizes Joint Commission accredited hospitals committed to achieving integrated, coordinated and patient-centered care for mothers and their newborns.
Bethesda North underwent a rigorous onsite review on November 27-28, 2018. Good Samaritan had its review on November 12-13, 2018. The goal is to assess both hospital’s compliance with certification standards for perinatal care. During the reviews, Joint Commission experts completed an independent evaluation of Bethesda North’s and Good Samaritan’s perinatal health care services, as well as the following key requirements:
“Achieving Perinatal Care Certification recognizes an organization’s commitment to healthy mothers and healthy babies,” said Patrick Phelan, executive director, Hospital Business Development, The Joint Commission. “The certification gives providers an unparalleled advantage when it comes to preparing mothers for labor and delivery, while also being able to help them if complications arise.”
“The Bethesda North and Good Samaritan Hospitals Perinatal Certifications are another example of how the hard work from the Trihealth Women’s Service team members translates into high quality patient care,” said Jack Basil, MD, System Chief, TriHealth Women’s Health.
“This certification further validates that our team is committed to quality and patient safety because we live it through our actions and the care we deliver every day,” added Jeremiah Kirkland, Executive Director Women’s Services. “By achieving this certification, we are focused on ongoing quality-improvement processes to improve care for mothers and newborns.”
Established in 2015, Perinatal Care Certification is awarded for a two-year period to Joint Commission-accredited hospitals.
