Would you know if you were having a heart attack?
Nearly one-third of people having
heart attacks will die because they do not realize they are having one. The
most common symptom
is pain or discomfort
anywhere in the chest. Women and people with diabetes don’t always experience
the “classic” symptoms. More frequently they report fatigue, shortness
of breath and lightheadedness, with or without chest pain.
Learn the symptoms of a heart attack.
If you should experience any of the symptoms and they don’t go away
within five minutes of resting, CALL
911 IMMEDIATELY. “Time is muscle,” which means that the
longer the symptoms (and the heart attack) continue, the more heart muscle
will die.
