Outcomes
Outcomes data collected by our physicians highlights excellent outcomes for patients who have undergone the catheter a-fib ablation:
- 156 patients have undergone the procedure over a two-year period
- 83.3 percent success* rate for patients with intermittent a-fib (85 out of 102 patients)
- 61.1 percent success* rate for patients with persistent or chronic a-fib (33 out of 54 patients)
- Mortality (deaths) – 0; serious complications – 2 (1.3 percent); minor complications – 1 (0.6 percent) for a total complication rate of 1.9 percent
*Success is defined as minimal atrial fibrillation up to two years following the procedure (not all patients have been tracked that long). Most, but not all, patients are no longer taking a-fib treatment medications.
These results are in patients for whom medical treatments had failed, and who otherwise would be resigned to live with this life-altering condition for the rest of their lives, or undergo other much more invasive procedures to treat it.
