The Good Samaritan Weight Management Center is unlike any other in the area. We offer integrated programs for both surgical and non-surgical weight loss. But we’re not just about losing pounds. To help our patients achieve a complete lifestyle change, our program pulls together the skills of professionals from Good Samaritan Hospital and Group Health Associates, including:
- An experienced surgeon
- Bariatric nurse caregivers
- Dietitians
- Exercise physiologists
- Mental health providers and nursing caregivers
Surgical Process
For those considering surgery, this team guides you through pre-surgery education and screening, the weight loss surgery, and a two-year post-surgery program that focuses on monitoring your success and helping with lifestyle changes. It includes:
- Personal consultation and evaluation by a bariatric surgeon
- One-on-one education by bariatric nurses
- Nutritional education and counseling before and after surgery to reinforce new eating habits
- Monthly support group meetings for both preoperative and postoperative patients
- Frequent medical checkups to monitor your health and weight loss progress
This team approach has helped us earn accreditation by the American Society for Bariatric Surgery as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence. There are fewer than 200 such centers in the United States. To earn this designation, our program underwent a series of site inspections, during which all aspects of its surgical processes were closely examined and data on health outcomes was collected. As a Center of Excellence, we continue to share information on clinical pathways, protocols and outcomes data in an effort to make advancements in weight loss surgery. Additionally, this status qualifies our program to provide services to Medicare patients.
Non-Surgical Weight Loss
For those who choose a non-surgical approach, our team guides you through the
Health and Nutrition Technology (HNT) program, a meal replacement and powerful health and lifestyle program. It includes:
- Personal consultation and evaluation
- One-on-one education by nurses
- Behavioral sessions
- Medical monitoring
- Meal planning
- Continuing education
We are here to help you achieve the life you want and deserve. But don’t take our word for it. Read what past patients have to say about our approach.
