We provide an exercise component to our weight loss surgery patients because of our strong belief in the importance of exercise for long-term weight loss success. These weekly, hour-long sessions begin with an informative lecture and conclude with an exercise activity. You have three months, either before or after your surgery, to complete three sessions. We offer both morning and evening classes to meet your busy schedule.
Session Descriptions
Session 1
Fitness Education: Exercise Benefits for Bariatric Surgery Success
Participants will learn the benefits of exercse, and how it will be incorporated both before and after surgery. Following the exercise discussion, participants complete a brief personal exercise questionnaire.
Fitness Workout: Range of Motion Assessment and Sit and Be Fit Class
Participants perform a rang of motion assessment that informs staff of any range of motion limitations and precautions then take part in Sit and Be Fit Class. In this unique class, cardiovascular, strength, and flexibility exercises are preformed in a seated position – what a great way to start a new exercise routine!
Session 2
Fitness Education: Cardiovascular Activity
Participants will learn the importance of warming up and stretching and how to monitor intensity during exercise.
Fitness Workout: Water Activity in the Warm Water Pool (held at TriHealth Fitness & Health Pavilion)
Low-impact water aerobics emphasizes toning, stretching and cardiovascular conditioning. With the aid of the water’s buoyancy and resistance, the warm water and gentle movements provide valuable exercise and enhance cardiovascular and muscular fitness.
Session 3
Fitness Education: Strength Training
Participants will learn how to strength train including a warm up, stretching, and full body workout exercises using the major muscle groups.
Fitness Workout: Free Weight/Resistance Movement
Participants will perform resistance exercises using hand weight or rubberized resistance band equipment to help tone and strengthen the body’s major muscles groups.
Session 4
Fitness Education: Plan B and Rewards
Participants will learn how to identify all-or-none thinking and how to reframe those thoughts and make conscious, positive choices. Plan B is designed to give permission to deter from their planned activity and release you from guilt while choosing an alternate plan and timetable. This will help participants’ health and encourage them to remain active rather than having one small change disrupt and stop their progress toward their goals.
Fitness Workout: Strength Training using Tubes and Bands
Class will participate in a strength training activity to help tone and improve muscular strength. The activities can be preformed standing or in a seated position.
Frequently Asked Questions About Weight ‘Til You See Me Now!
What do I need to wear? Do I need to bring anything?
This actually depends on which sessions you sign up for.
For the Sit and Be Fit, Resistance Tubing and Free Weight Exercise Class, we recommend that you wear comfortable clothes and gym shoes. You will be exercising in the classes. The classes are held in our conference room.
For the Aquatic Exercise Class (provided at the TriHealth Pavilion), we recommend that you bring your bathing suit. We do supply private changing areas so you can change into you suit. These changing areas also have shower and private bathrooms as well. We also provide bath size towels, but you can always bring your own towels or bathrobe. Many individuals will also wear non-slip aqua shoe in the pools. These are not required, but some individuals say that this does supply additional stability to them.
What if I want to change a class date or can’t make the class I signed up for?
We are aware that conflicts may occur. Please contact us at (513) 985-6722 to reschedule the class you will miss. Please give at least 24 hours notice. At that time, inform us which other class you would like to attend.
If you sign up for a class and you did not show up for the class you will lose that session. You are entitled to attend four classes during the three-month period. Your three-month duration begins on the date of your first class.
Will I be able to work out at the TriHealth Fitness & Health Pavilion while I am enrolled in the classes?
We do have guest passes that you are more than welcome to purchase. The passes provide full access to the Pavilion’s work-out areas. If you are interested in our facility, we encourage you to stop by our member services department and take a tour of the facility. Don’t forget to ask about the Post-Rehab Membership Program.
