Training and Research
Surgeons at TriHealth hospitals have performed more than 2,500 robotic-assisted procedures, including the first duo-surgeon cardiac robotic-assisted surgery in the United States. See our website for more information about these accomplishments, conditions we treat, and how take the next step.
Experts and Pioneers
TriHealth surgeons are experienced and accomplished at robotic surgery, but that's not all. They also:
Good Samaritan Hospital is designated by Intuitive Surgical, makers of the da Vinci Surgical System, as one of only a handful of robotic-assisted surgery training and research sites in the world. Together, with Intuitive, our experts have trained teams from around the world, including teams from nationally recognized hospitals, such as Johns Hopkins Medical Center and The Cleveland Clinic. (View a map to see who else we've trained.)
Robotic-assisted surgery training takes place in the minimally invasive surgery training center of the Hatton Institute, located on the Good Samaritan Hospital campus. Currently, the following robotic-assisted training courses are offered through the Hatton Institute:
- Minimally Invasive Mitral Valve Repair with the da Vinci Surgical System
- Minimally Invasive Cardiac Revascularization with the da Vinci Surgical System
- Advanced Minimally Invasive Cardiac Revascularization with the da Vinci Surgical System
If you are a surgeon who is interested in training at the Hatton Institute, e-mail us.
Research
Over the years, Good Samaritan Hospital physicians, researchers and scientists have studied the merits and value of robotic-assisted surgery when compared with the merits and value of traditional open surgery. TriHealth's Hatton Institute supports these research efforts by helping to design research protocols, collect and analyze data, prepare presentations, and write manuscripts.
